Back-to-back blowout losses have placed the West Virginia Mountaineers on the brink of dropping out of the SB Nation BlogPoll, which was released Tuesday. Saturday's 55-14 loss to the Kansas St. Wildcats made voters drop the Mountaineers (7-0) to No. 25 in the rankings. According to the BlogPoll, WVU fell eight spots from last week's ranking of 17.
Despite the recent downward trend, the Mountaineers are still one of four Big 12 Conference teams ranked in the top 25. The Wildcats are the highest-ranked team at No. 4, while the Oklahoma Sooners are No. 8 and Texas Tech Red Raiders are No. 13. The Texas Longhorns, TCU Horned Frogs and Oklahoma St. Cowboys all received votes but did not crack the top 25.
Overall, the Alabama Crimson Tide snagged the top spot for the eighth straight week. The Florida Gators moved up to No. 2, while the Oregon Ducks, Wildcats and Notre Dame Fighting Irish rounded out the top five.
The rest of the BlogPoll can be seen below. A full breakdown of the BlogPoll can be read here.
