The West Virginia Mountaineers rose four spots in SB Nation's weekly BlogPoll rankings heading into Week 7, thanks to Saturday's 48-45 victory over the University of Texas. West Virginia is ranked No. 4.
According to the ballot breakdown, the majority of voters placed West Virginia in the third-to-sixth overall range, with three votes recorded for second overall, in addition to one first-place vote (which came from SB Nation's LSU blog, And The Valley Shook!). With the exception of one vote by Boise State blog One Bronco Nation Under God (No. 18 overall), every other ballot ranked the team no lower than No. 8 overall.
The University of Alabama remains the top-ranked team in the nation, while Oregon remained in second. However, the University of South Carolina rose four spots and now holds possession of No. 3 overall.
