Big 12 Football Standings 2012: WVU drops to tie for 8th

The Mountaineers lost their fifth straight game this past week and dropped to eighth place in the Big 12.

West Virginia's 50-49 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday extended the Mountaineers losing streak to five games and dropped WVU into a tie for eighth place in the Big 12.

At 2-5 in Big 12 play, the Mountaineers are tied with Baylor for the second worst record in the conference. Only Kansas -- which is 0-8 in Big 12 play -- has a worse record. West Virginia is now behind Iowa State who improved to 3-5 in the Big 12 with a win against Kansas on Saturday.The Mountaineers have now lost five straight conference games after opening conference play 2-0.

There was some change atop the Big 12 standings this week as Kansas State lost it's first game of the season. The Wildcats lost to Baylor 52-24 and at 7-1 have just a 1/2-game lead over 6-1 Oklahoma. The Wildcats will wrap up their regular season with a game against Texas while Oklahoma will face Oklahoma State and TCU.
