NCAA Bracket 2012: Top Seeds Kentucky, North Carolina Advance To Elite Eight

Friday night saw the conclusion of Sweet 16 play in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, and with it the final four teams are now set for Elite Eight action on Sunday.

In the South region, the No. 1 seed Kentucky Wildcats outlasted the No. 4 seed Indiana Hoosiers in a fast-paced offensive battle, 102-90. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led the way for Kentucky, scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 boards. The No. 3 seed Baylor Bears jumped out to an early lead on No. 10 seed Xavier, and held on to win 75-70 after a furious Musketeers comeback.

In the Midwest region, Roy Williams' Tar Heels survived the loss of guard Kendall Marshall (for now), narrowly defeating the upset-minded No. 13 seed Ohio Bobcats 73-65 in overtime. Tyler Zeller was a beast for UNC, scoring 20 points and grabbing 22 rebounds. The No. 2 seed Kansas Jayhawks squeaked past the No. 11 seed North Carolina State Wolfpack, 60-57, thanks to the play of big men Thomas Robinson and Jeff Withey. Robinson scored 18 points and notched 15 rebounds, while Withey finished with ten blocked shots in the game.
