The West Virginia Mountaineers will play host to the James Madison Dukes on Saturday afternoon in Landover, Md.
The No. 9 Mountaineers looked terrific on offense in their preseason opener against the Marshall Herd, winning 69-34 back on Sept. 1.
Geno Smith was incredible in the contest, completing 32-of-36 for 323 yards and four touchdowns without tossing an interception. Shawne Alston was also a force on the ground, amassing 123 yards on 16 carries to accompany his two trips into the end zone.
All in all, West Virginia racked up 335 rushing yards on just 35 carries.
However, the defense was concerning, as they surrendered 545 total yards. Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato passed for 413 yards to keep his team somewhat competitive.
James Madison comes into this weekend with two very impressive wins under its belt. The 2-0 Dukes destroyed the St. Francis Red Flash 55-7 before easily taking care of the Alcorn State Braves 42-3.
Against Alcorn State, Dae'Quan Scott and Justin Thorpe stole the show, combining for 208 yards and three scores on just 17 carries.
